With Folded Hands

Developing new technologies always comes with risks. With the creation of increasingly self-sustainable artificial intelligence systems, there is the possibility that the program will become too smart. For example, Facebook was forced to shut down an AI program after it developed its own language which humans were unable to understand. Perhaps the fear of technology becoming sentient is greater than the desire for convenience.
Artificial intelligence can create accurate renders of faces based on pictures and even make realistic images of people who do not exist. This contributes to the idea of fake news, because users will not be able to trust content they view on the internet. Because the renders are so realistic, it will become difficult to distinguish between genuine images and images created by artificial intelligence. Even without AI, consumers of the media will accept news as long as the visuals are convincing.
A recent example of this is Yes Theory's video with Brad Sousa. Brad Sousa is an Instagram influencer who bears a slight resemblance to Justin Bieber. Sousa wore sunglasses, a beanie, and a hoodie in similar fashion to Justin Bieber. Then, he had his picture taken while he ate a burrito by biting into the side of it. Yes Theory posted this picture to Reddit and various subreddits to increase circulation of the photo. No one questioned if the person in the photo was actually Justin Bieber which provides an important lesson on fake news. If it was that easy for Yes Theory to fool consumers while only using a doppelganger, fooling consumers using images created with artificial intelligence would be effortless.
